The photo-agency UWPhoto was founded by Åge Jacobsen and Rudolf
Svensen 16 October 2001. We soon realized that we wanted to give our
customers a complete and diverse supply of pictures. Erling Svensen
was therefore included as owner and photographer 26 June 2002.
Parallel with the development of programs and design, we also
started a process to include additional photographers. At present,
UWPhoto includes and markets pictures from more than 30
photographers from all over the world.
Åge has experience from a kindergarten focusing on nature, is
a self-taught developer of data programs and passionate
fly-fisher. Erling and Rudolf have travelled around the world
and documented underwater wildlife for decades.
The driving force behind UWPhoto is a genuine wish to present to
the world the unique wildlife of aquatic environments. We have
the opinion that it is important to attract attention towards
the biological diversity in aquatic habitats so they can be
conserved for future generations. UWPhoto has therefore made all
pictures visible on the net for everybody, and not only regular
customers. Everybody interested in biology, nature and wildlife
have access to our databases.
While developing the photo-agency, we soon realized that our
photographers also had in their possession unique pictures from
habitats above water, among others from the Arctic and
Antarctica. We therefore decided to build a new database based
on the same principles as the database in UWPhoto.
Among the photographers in UWPhoto are professors, marine
biologists, researchers as well as professional film
photographers. This gives us a unique strength.
We in UWPhoto work continually to make the photo-agency
user-friendly with maximum service to our customers. Customers,
who want to buy pictures from us and down-load low-resolution
pictures, may obtain their own net-pages in UWPhoto where they
on their own may administrate what they purchase.
