Vidar Skålevik was born in 1978 and live in Stavanger. He has been diving since 1994, and reached a 1000 dives in 2006. Vidar started to take pictures underwater with a second-hand Nikon F801 during the summer of 2000, and haven’t performed many dives without a camera since then. In 2006 he changed out the trusty slide film with the digital SLR Nikon D200.
Vidar is a member of a diveclub called “Stavanger Dykkerklubb” and has been leader of the club since 2005.
Most of his dives are done in the Stavanger-area, but destinations like the Red sea outside Sudan, Palau and Yap in the pacific, Faroe Islands, Scapa Flow (Orkney Islands), and Denmark, in addition to several places along the west coast of Norway has been visited the last years.
Vidar won the Norwegian championships of digital underwater photography in 2006.
He currently works as a Technical Safety engineer in the offshore industry.
