Thor Håkonsen is from Karmøy, just outside Haugesund, and was born in 1976. He has lived on Karmøy all his life, except during 3 years of education in Stavanger where he got an education as an surveyengineer. He’s always been fascinated with nature, and especially fishing. He bought his first SLR in 1991, a Nikon 401s – but the time and interest faded away. But for the last 2-3 years the interest came back as the digital SLR’s became better and cheaper. The main interest in photography is insects and reptiles, but tries to have a broad mind in photography and also does landscape, nature and football. Nearly all the mantids in his photos are insects he keeps at home as “pets”
